Terms of service

What you are agreeing to when you ask us to send a truck — and what we are agreeing to in return.

In effect from September 11, 2026. Motora is a trading name of CNP Transportation LLC. Where this page says “we”, it means the business that operates Motora.

What this covers

These terms apply when you request roadside assistance or towing through this site or by calling (973) 530-6757. Requesting service means you accept them.

They cover service you ask for. They have nothing to do with a vehicle towed at the direction of the police or a property owner, which is governed by New Jersey law and is not what this service does.

Who does the work

Motora takes your request, assigns it to a towing operator, handles the payment and keeps you informed. The work at the roadside is carried out by the assigned operator, who is an independent business responsible for its own licensing, insurance, equipment and drivers. It is not our employee, and we do not control how it does the job.

That distinction matters for claims, and it is set out again below rather than buried here.

What we need from you

A driver is dispatched on what you tell us, so it has to be right: where the vehicle actually is, what it is, whether you have the keys, and whether it will go into neutral. Those last two decide what equipment leaves the yard. A truck sent for the wrong vehicle, or to the wrong place, is a wasted call-out.

You confirm that you own the vehicle or are authorised to have it moved, and that you are 18 or older.

What it costs

You are shown a price before you confirm anything. It is built from published rates, not guessed at:

  • A hook-up charge for a tow, plus a set rate for each mile towed.
  • A flat charge for a jump start, a tire change or a lockout.
  • A higher rate during weekday rush hours, and a flat additional charge for overnight call-outs. Both are named on their own line on your quote before you accept it, with the hours stated.
  • A flat surcharge for a vehicle over the heavy-vehicle weight threshold, which needs a larger truck. It is the same figure at any hour.
  • Tolls, where the route crosses a bridge or tunnel. Tolls within the state depend on the exact entrance and exit the driver uses and are passed on at cost, confirmed by dispatch.
  • A service fee to Motora for booking, dispatch and tracking, shown as its own line.

Where a price cannot honestly be quoted in advance, it is not. Recovering a vehicle that has left the road depends on how far off it is, how deep, and how long the pull takes. Those jobs are shown as a starting price, and the driver and dispatch confirm the figure before the work begins — not after.

The quote assumes what you told us is accurate. If the driver arrives and the job is materially different — a longer tow, a vehicle that will not roll, a second truck needed — you are told the revised price and you decide whether to go ahead.

How payment works

Card only. There is no cash, and your driver does not settle up with you at the roadside.

  • Before the driver sets off, your bank places a hold on your card for a little more than the estimate, to cover a job that runs longer than expected. A hold is not a charge. It is not money we have taken.
  • When the job is finished, we charge the actual price. If it came in under the hold, the difference is released by your bank. If it came in over, the extra is charged separately, and only after dispatch has confirmed the final figure.
  • An invoice follows automatically, itemised line by line, showing exactly what was charged and why.

If a payment fails after the work is done, the amount remains owed and we will contact you to settle it.

Cancelling

You can cancel before the driver starts work. Call (973) 530-6757 or use your tracking link. Nothing is charged for a cancelled job, and the hold on your card is not captured — your bank releases it.

Cancel after a truck has arrived and the operator may charge for the call-out. If that applies, you will be told the amount before it is charged, never after.

Your vehicle and your belongings

Take what you need out of the vehicle before it goes. Take your registration and insurance documents. If the vehicle is being towed somewhere that will be closed when it arrives, work out with the driver how you get back into it.

We do not take responsibility for personal property left inside a towed vehicle. Where a vehicle is dropped at a shop, dealership or lot, whatever storage or release terms that place has are between you and them.

What we do not promise

We do not guarantee an arrival time. Traffic, weather, and how many trucks are already out all decide it, and a number invented to sound reassuring helps nobody waiting on a shoulder. Dispatch will tell you what they actually know, and the tracking link shows you the truck moving.

We do not guarantee that a service will fix the problem. A jump start will not rescue a battery that is finished; a plug will not hold a tire torn past repair. Where that is the case, the driver will tell you before starting rather than take the money and let you find out on the next trip.

If something is damaged

Tell the driver before they leave and call (973) 530-6757 the same day. Photos help. Damage caused during a tow is a claim against the operator who did the work and their insurance — they are the insured party, not us — and we will give you their details and stay involved until it is resolved.

Reporting it immediately matters. Damage first raised weeks later is very hard for anyone to attribute, which is a practical problem rather than a legal dodge.

Limits

Motora arranges and bills for the service; the operator performs it. Except where the law does not allow it to be limited, our own liability for any job is limited to what you paid for that job. This does not limit the operator’s responsibility for its own work, and it does not limit anyone’s liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud.

Using the site

Do not file requests for vehicles you have no authority over, do not send a truck to an address for someone who did not ask for one, and do not use the assistant or the request form to probe the site. Filing a false request wastes a truck that someone genuinely stranded is waiting for, and we will refuse service and, where it is serious, report it.

Disagreements

Call us first. Nearly everything is a billing question and is settled in one conversation. If it cannot be, these terms are governed by the laws of New Jersey, and any dispute belongs in the courts of New Jersey.

Changes

We may update these terms. The version in force for your job is the one published when you requested it, and the price you agreed to is the quote you accepted — neither changes underneath you afterwards.

How we handle your information is set out in the privacy policy.
